Dave Wasik

Partner

Dave is a Partner at 2nd Order Solutions, and joined the firm in 2018. Since then he has overseen 75+ consulting engagements across the credit lifecycle, with a particular focus on Collections. Dave leads 2OS’ Collections consulting practice and has led Collections projects with six of the top 10 US credit card issuers and many large national and regional banks. Outside of the US, Dave has led projects in the UK, Mexico, Brazil, and Australia.

Dave spent the first 17 years of his career at Capital One. He started his time there as a Business Analyst, then advanced within the company to become a Senior Vice President. Dave led Collections and Recoveries for Capital One’s US Card division during the Great Recession, and managed Capital One’s small business credit card line of business, which is one of the largest VISA/MC business card portfolios. Dave was also one of a small number of Senior Credit Officers at Capital One and helped coordinate credit loss forecasting, credit governance, and portfolio performance across the US Card division.

Outside of work, Dave likes following his various sports teams, including the Washington Nationals, Leeds United, and any and all of Duke University’s sports teams. He is also an avid fantasy baseball manager and knows far too much about minor league baseball players. Dave and his wife Jen have two children, ages 21 and 19, and live in the suburbs of Richmond, Virginia.

Scott Barton

Managing Partner

Scott is the Founder and Managing Partner for 2nd Order Solutions. Over his 25 years in financial services, he has developed deep expertise in strategy, process improvement, operations, and loss forecasting. At 2OS, Scott has consulted to the financial services industry for over nearly 15 years, with clients ranging from top 5 banks to fintechs to private equity firms, including hundreds of  engagements that reduced credit risk for clients in the US, Canada, Australia, Europe, and Central America.

Prior to founding 2OS, Scott worked for Capital One where he founded and ran Capital One’s partnership card portfolio, launching a major new innovation vector for Capital One, rapidly growing the portfolio and number of partnerships with industry-leading underwriting. He also led Collections and Recoveries for Capital One’s card and personal loan business lines, where he was responsible for credit policies, strategy, internal operations and agency network. He helped massively upgrade analytical capabilities within Collections, and transformed call centers from primarily in-house to primarily outsourced, saving $100M in losses and saving $50M+ in operating expenses. Scott has an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and an undergraduate degree from Duke University.

Outside of work, Scott enjoys spending his free time playing golf, reading about history and leadership, and engaging on travel adventures with his family.
